Western Technical Advisor / Actor

If you're shooting a period Western, there are a lot of elements to consider. Historical accuracy is important, because if you get the details right, people will talk. Get them wrong, people will run you down. Seems folks like to find fault with movies, especially Westerns.

My speciality is Saloon Culture and Gambling. I'm one of the few Faro dealers in the country. If you have a saloon scene in your film and you don't know what Faro is, then you definitely need my services! Faro was the most popular gambling game in the Old West, yet it's usually overlooked. Even in films about famous Faro dealers, such as the Earp brothers, Doc Holiday, etc, they don't get Faro right.

I'm available to take all the worries about historical correctness off your shoulders. I have the knowledge and skills to work with your production designer, wardrobe designer and armorer to make sure every character is dressed and equipped correct for the period, but also that the equipment supports and illustrates that character's back story and role in the film.

All it takes is one person, with the passion and knowledge for the time period and the understanding of the film making process to give your production value a huge boost. You're going to rent the props, guns and wardrobe anyway, so why not insure that they're perfect?

In my 'real' life, I'm a Director of Photography with TV and feature film credits. I know my way around a set and understand that we're probably not making a documentary, allowing me to massage the historical accuracy of the elements of the film so they work within your budget and don't get in the way of the story.

If you want to get the details right, drop me a line. I'd be thrilled to help from behind the camera, in front of the camera, or both. Click here for my acting resume.
